DALLAS–Jerry Clancy, who has been with Lone Star Credit Union for 50 years, announced he will retire as CEO effective Sept. 30. The credit union has named Becky Reed as the new chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1.
Clancy will remain on the board of directors through his issued term in 2020.
Clancy first joined what was then known as Lone Star Gas Co., the sole sponsor of the credit union, in 1969, starting in collections and being named executive vice president in 1977.
“Clancy's ability to connect with people became his trademark, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met as he traveled to various offices of LSCU and its employee group, Enserch Corporation (formerly Lone Star Gas Company),” the Cornerstone CU League said in announcing the retirement.
He was named president by the board of directors and became chief executive officer Jan. 1, 1993.
“Throughout his 49 years with LSCU, Clancy has created quite a legacy,” the Cornerstone league said. “He was present at the groundbreaking ceremony for LSCU’s headquarters in 1980, led the transition to a community charter in the late '90s, and celebrated LSCU’s 50th anniversary in 2017. Clancy’s leadership has continuously kept LSCU moving forward while not compromising its roots. The impact he has made on LSCU members, employees, and volunteers will always be remembered.”
The $122.7-million Lone Star CU has approximately 11,000 members.
