OSHKOSH, Wis.–A lawsuit filed by the former Oshkosh Central CU against a former employee it terminated in 2014 after $1.7 million went missing from its vault has been dropped.
The civil suit had been filed against Melisa Beyer, 37. The credit union has since been merged into Community First Credit Union. It had also fired its former CEO, Mark Patchak, after the discovery of the missing funds. Patchak is not alleged to have been involved in any wrongdoing.
The suit had sought to recover property the credit union alleged had been purchased with the missing funds. Court documents indicate Beyer admitted to falsifying financial reports in order to help the CU remain solvent.
To date no criminal charges have been filed. The FBI has investigated, but declined to say whether any charges might be pending.
