SAN JOSE, Calif.—PayPal is now letting consumers pay online with a fingerprint scan.
PayPal has announced that consumers can now use Android Pay to pay for purchases made inside their mobile Chrome browser at 16 million participating online merchants, including Walgreens, Nike and Target.
It works like this: Once consumers have finished shopping at an online merchant and arrived at the website's checkout page, they automatically receive a notification asking if they would like to pay with PayPal. If so, consumers press their finger on the Android phone's fingerprint scanner and the payment is complete, reported Yahoo Finance.
“For Android users with PayPal accounts, the news is actually pretty significant, given PayPal has streamlined the online payments process to a simple fingerprint scan. It’s also worth noting that iPhone users who use Apple Pay can do what PayPal is promising Android users once an update rolls out,” Yahoo Finance said.
