ARLINGTON, Va.—Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) and CFPB’s Holly Petraeus have joined the list of speakers for NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus next week in Washington.
Petraeus has led the CFPB’s Office of Servicemember Affairs since 2011. She previously served as the director of the Better Business Bureau’s Military Line program, a partnership with the Defense Department’s Financial Readiness Campaign for servicemembers.
Peters joined the Senate in 2015 after having served three terms in the House, where he cosponsored NAFCU-backed legislation to increase the statutory credit union member business lending cap. He serves on the Senate Small Business Committee, the Joint Economic Committee, the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, for which he is ranking member for the Space, Science and Competitiveness Subcommittee. Peters this spring joined with other senators in requesting information on how payments systems at NCUA and CFPB, among other agencies, could be reformed.
Other recent additions to the speaker slate include:
• Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee;
• Rep. Sandy Levin (D-MI) , the House Ways and Means Committee’s ranking member;
• Jamal El-Hindi, FinCEN’s acting director;
• Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), member of the House Financial Services Committee; and
• Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), member of the Senate Banking Committee.
