ORLANDO, Fla.– The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates has presented the Professional and Young Professional of the Year Awards.
The honors were presented during the2023 Southeastern Credit Union Conference & Expo in Orlando and recognize credit unions and credit union professionals who have demonstrated exemplary service and accomplished significant achievements in 2022.
According to LSCU, the credit union Professional of the Year award recognizes credit union professionals for their impactful contributions to advance the credit union movement in their state and/or the nation.
The winners of the Professional of the Year award are:
- Phil Boozer of America’s First Federal Credit Union (Alabama)
- Lisa D. Brown of Central Credit Union of Florida (Florida)
- Heiwote Tadesse of Associated Credit Union (Georgia)
‘Deeply Honored’
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition from the LSCU,” said Phil Boozer, senior vice president and chief sales officer of America’s First Federal Credit Union. “This award is a testament to the commitment and dedication of our entire team at AmFirst. It is their hard work and passion that has allowed us to serve our members and communities with excellence. ‘Many Years of Hard Work’
"I am deeply honored to receive the LSCU Professional of the Year Award,” stated Heiwote Tadesse, EVP-member relations in Associated Credit Union. “This recognition is the result of many years of hard work and also serves as a reminder to continue to embrace the spirit of collaboration and the 'people helping people' motto. Thank you LSCU and my ACU team, success is not an individual achievement, but a collective effort."
‘Excited to Honor’
“We are excited to honor these three individuals with the Professional of the Year Award as they have been instrumental in creating and growing community development initiatives, advancing advocacy efforts, and inspiring change,” announced Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “Phil Boozer, Lisa Brown, and Heiwote Tadesse have worked their way up the ranks at their respective credit unions and have been involved in growing future credit union leaders that are certain to continue in their footsteps.”
Young Professional of the Year
In addition, LSCU said it awarded its Young Professional of the Year award, which recognizes an outstanding affiliated credit union professional, age 40 or under, who has demonstrated proven dedication and enthusiasm for the credit union movement, to Ashleigh Robinson from First Florida Credit Union has won the 2022 Young Professional of the Year Award.
“I am honored to have been recognized by the LSCU as Young Professional of the Year for doing what I love: financial education and community service,” said Ashleigh Robinson, community relations and member development manager at First Florida Credit Union. “Although this award honors an individual, I share it with my First Florida Credit Union leadership and colleagues who make it possible for me to make the credit union difference every day. Together, we are People Helping People.”

Added La Pine, “Ashleigh Robinson has already made an incredible impact in such a short amount of time throughout her community and we are proud to honor her with the Young Professional of the Year award for 2022.
