LSCU Honors Professionals, Young Professionals of the Year, Presents John Deese With Distinguished Service Award

ORLANDO, Fla.–The League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates has named its professionals of the year, its young professionals of the year, and the winner of its Distinguished Service Award.

The association, which represents credit unions in Florida, Alabama and Georgia, presented the honors during its recent annual meeting in Orlando.

The credit union Professional of the Year award “recognizes credit union professionals for their impactful contributions to advance the credit union movement in their state and/or the nation,” LSCU said.

Professionals of the Year

The winners of the Professional of the Year award are Alan Stabler of America’s First Federal Credit Union in Alabama, Caryl Greene of Members First Credit Union of Florida, and Andy Harris of Coosa Valley Credit Union in Georgia.

“These three winners in the Professional of the Year category have proven that they genuinely care about advancing the credit union movement through their extensive support of advocacy events, commitment to member and community service, and efforts to enhance to credit union workplace,” said Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “We are proud to work alongside such dedicated individuals and look forward to seeing their continued success in bettering the credit union industry. Mr. Alan Stabler, Ms. Caryl Greene, and Mr. Andy Harris have proven to be exemplary leaders in the credit union industry and their continued support of the movement is beneficial to everyone involved.”

Young Professional of the Year

Presented with the Young Professional of the Year award, which recognizes an outstanding affiliated credit union professional, age 40 or under, who has demonstrated proven dedication and enthusiasm for the credit union movement were:

  • Tara Leeth of WinSouth Credit Union in Alabama
  • Anaidelin Sainz of Miami Postal Service Credit Union in Florida
  • Harrison Stafford of Georgia United Credit Union

Distinguished Service Award

TheLeague of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates also presented John D. Deese, CEO of Guardians Credit Union in West Palm Beach, Fla., with its 2021 Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service award recognizes lifelong service to the credit union movement reaching beyond the natural person credit union.

“Mr. Deese is a prime example of a servant leader, and we have no doubt he is beyond worthy and deserving of this special recognition,” said La Pine. “LSCU and our member credit unions thank and honor Mr. Deese for his amazing and inspiring 44 years of service to our movement at the local, state, and federal level.”

Added Shannon Duran, president of Guardians Credit Union, “John inspires me to be the best version of myself, and he inspires so many others to do just the same. He is a true steward of goodness. Whether it’s helping his members, his colleagues, or helping his employees, he truly has a passion for helping people. He is so deserving of this honor.”
