LANSING, Mich. — LAFCU, in partnership with the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, has opened applications for the LAFCU Hotspot Program.
The credit union said that as part of the program 40 or more hotspots with three months of internet connectivity will be given to selected applicants from the mid-Michigan area. The application deadline is May 8.
“The pandemic has illuminated the disparity that exists with regard to internet access,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer and chief diversity officer. “Because access to the internet is vital to many necessary endeavors, LAFCU is offering this community giveaway to help students participate in distance learning and for adults to connect to online education, job searches, health care information, public assistance and other critical services."
The $849-million LAFCU said applicants are being asked to include a description of their situation and personal need in the short application.
