Kitsap CU Names New CEO

BREMERTON, Wash. – Kitsap Credit Union has named a new president/CEO. The $1.2-billion Kitsap CU said it has selected Shawn Gilfedder to lead the organization.

Shawn Gilfedder

Gilfedder previously served as president/CEO of McGraw-Hill FCU in East Windsor, N.J.

Elliot Gregg will continue as President Emeritus and retire after almost two decades spent at the helm of the CU on Jan. 15, 2019, the credit union reported.

“With a passion for member-focused service, financial wellness, and community involvement, Shawn is a nationally recognized leader in the credit union community,” the credit union said in a statement. “He brings extensive experience with financial institutions, including capital markets, commercial banking, and the ability to incorporate digital channels to enhance the member experience. In addition, Shawn hopes his forward-looking perspective on financial health initiatives will be a tremendous benefit to the communities that KCU serves.”

While at MHFCU, he oversaw growth at the $420-million that included membership growth of more than 100% and asset growth of more than 150%.

“Shawn’s visionary and creative approach to leading is a perfect match for our credit union,” said Susan Baker, Vice Chair of the KCU board. “Throughout the interview process, we were impressed with his integrity, genuine belief in the cooperative movement, and focus on member and community financial wellness.”

“Being a part of a community is an essential element of one’s successful journey in life. Kitsap Credit Union helps define community by bringing people together in a meaningful way to improve their financial health and wellness. I am proud to be selected as KCU’s next CEO and build upon this trusted foundation,” Gilfedder said.
