KERRVILLE, Texas—Sandy Lumbley, CEO of the $160 million Kerr County Federal Credit Union, will retire on Dec. 31, concluding a 26-year career with the institution, the Kerrville Daily Times reported.
Lumbley joined the credit union in May 1999 as a bookkeeper and was promoted to CEO the following year.
“It is a passion to help people, and that’s how it starts and that’s how it ends,” Lumbley told the news outlet.
Lumbley’s retirement follows a three-year succession plan developed with the board of directors through strategic planning sessions.
“It’s a planned succession, it was board approved,” she said. “Every step of it tested, planned, and I will walk away feeling great about the future of Kerr County Federal Credit Union.”
On Oct. 1, Angela Hill assumed the CEO role, with Lumbley transitioning to a consultant position for the final three months of the year. Hill has worked at the credit union for 30 years, starting as a drive-thru teller shortly after high school, Kerrville Daily Times noted.
