WICHITA, Kan.–Byron Stout, vice president of human resources for Meritrust Credit Union since 2007, has died after a battle with cancer.
Mr. Stout is survived by his wife, Carrie, five children and three grandchildren.
According to a statement from the credit union, Stout was instrumental in the formation of Meritrust’s CUWell program where he helped to develop the program with the goal of integrating physical, financial and emotional health into the workplace.
Stout was a “one-of-a-kind leader and friend, blessing the world with his tremendous, caring personality and lighthearted sense of humor that brought smiles all around,” the credit union said, calling him a pillar of the organization who shared an authenticity and energy with those around him.
Prior to joining Meritrust, Stout was HR manager with what was then Love Box Co., and also worked at Bank IV and Stout-Crawford Jeep.
Stout was recognized in 2013 as part of the Wichita Business Journal’s HR Professionals awards.
