WESTBURY, N.Y.– Jovia Financial Credit Union said it has entered into partnership with the Long Island Nets (LI Nets), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets.
As part of the partnership, the LI Nets and Jovia Credit Union will also team up to host financial literacy seminars for middle school students on Long Island this school year, the credit union said.
Most recently, it joined with the LI Nets to host a school supply drive at Milton Olive Elementary School in Wyandanch, N.Y. and California Ave. Elementary School in Uniondale N.Y. to provide underserved students on Long Island with new backpacks and other essential school supplies.
Jovia Financial had set up donation boxes at its branches for donations.
Additionally, Jovia said it will become the supporting sponsor of the LI Nets’ award-winning Team Up For Unity program, which is dedicated to eliminating racism in high school sports on Long Island and educating youth and school faculty on how to recognize and address these situations.
Jovia will also support the LI Nets’ Education Day Game on March 7 and throughout this season will work with the team to incorporate STEM education and learning into the fan experience during LI Nets home games at Nassau Coliseum.
Enriching the Lives of Children
“Jovia recognizes the importance of bringing sports and education together and is committed to developing the strengths of our youth,” said Chaka Adams, VP-marketing and community relations with JCU. “The Long Island Nets are an organization that brings a commitment to financial literacy in the love for sports and education. Together, we will look to enrich the lives of children across Long Island and strive to make a difference by providing them with a series of financial educational programs and prepare them for their future.”
The $4-billion Jovia Financial has more than 200,000 members.
