LOWELL, Mass.—Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union has terminated an employee after a TikTok video mocking former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s cancer diagnosis drew widespread social media backlash.
Fox News identified the TikTok user as Caitlyn Aguiar, reporting she had worked as assistant vice president for the inbound contact center at Jeanne D’Arc since January 2024, based on a LinkedIn page that appeared to have been taken down. The credit union did not name the employee or disclose the person’s title.
In a statement posted by the $2.18-billion credit union, Jeanne D’Arc said it became aware of “offensive comments posted on TikTok” by someone employed by the credit union at the time and said the conduct was inconsistent with its policies, Code of Ethics and core values. “We can confirm that the individual is no longer employed by Jeanne D’Arc,” the credit union said.
The video, posted under the now-private account @glitterandcrossbones, included a mock prayer asking that Bondi’s cancer become severe and leave her with permanent damage, according to Fox News and TMZ. Those outlets reported the clip spread widely after being reposted and criticized on social media.
Bondi has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and has undergone treatment, according to multiple reports. WUSF reported Bondi confirmed she was undergoing treatment and was “doing well” after surgery.
