Jacksonville Market Sees Another CU Merger Proposed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two more Florida credit unions have announced plans to merge.

The $47-million Jacksonville & Postal Credit Union is seeking to merge into the $1.3-billion First Florida Credit Union, which is also based in Jacksonville. If the merger is approved, the 2,600 members of JPCU will join the 57,000 members of First Florida, which operates branches across North Florida.

Jacksonville & Postal has not yet filed its member disclosure form with NCUA.

Plans call for the merger vote to take place in September.

The JPCU/FFCU merger announcement comes just a month after two other Jacksonville-based credit unions, with the $12-billion VyStar CU saying it is seeking to merge in the $11.2-million First Coast CU.
