IRVINE, Calif.–Home prices have recovered all of their losses and are back at their highest levels since the June 2006 record highs, according to the S&P Case-Shiller August index.
“All 20 cities surveyed saw prices higher than a year earlier with 10 enjoying larger annual gains than last month,” said David M. Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices, in a statement.
Top gaining home markets in August were Portland, Ore., with an 11.7% increase year to date, and Seattle, at 11.4% over the last year. Denver placed third with an 8.8% increase year over year.
