FOLSOM, Calif.–Two credit unions have announced the creation of new podcasts.
In California, SAFE Credit Union has launched “Perfect Cents,” a podcast the CU said will focus on everyday money matters, financial wellness, and unique approaches on how to save.
Each episode will feature a new theme centered around financial education and wellness, according to the credit union, which said guests will include external industry experts, nonprofit champions, its own leadership and others.
SAFE added the podcast is intended to inspire listeners and empower them to take control of their finances and become a greater source of good for the community.
“I’m excited to lead the launch of this new, immersive podcast,” said AVP Community Relations Rebecca Delmundo, according to the Sacramento Observer. “We’ve got an exciting line-up of talent to bring to the show along with two dynamic hosts, Brit Kelleher and Alex Becerra, who are in touch with the community and are respected industry experts.”
SAFE Credit Union said financial education and wellness services are central to its mission, and that the podcast joins other SAFE initiatives, including webinars, workshops for employees through the Workplace Financial Wellness program; Bite of Reality fairs for teens and young adults; and online financial education resources where people can learn at their own pace about financial basics.

‘WalletWorks’ Launches
Meanwhile, in Harrisburg, Penn., PSECU has launched the WalletWorks Podcast, which it said will be hosted by its Financial Wellness Team and feature biweekly episodes. The debut episode discusses tips and tricks for eliminating debt and includes information on debt payoff strategies, reducing expenses, and how carrying debt can impact your credit.
“By adding a podcast to our existing financial wellness library, we’re able to reach more members wherever they are with the information they need to be financial savvy,” said co-host Lisa Kennedy, PSECU’s content analyst. “You can listen to the podcast while commuting to work or walking the dog, and that means money tips are easily accessible for everyone.”
The credit union said future topics will include conversations ranging from how credit cards work to understanding the homebuying process and will include guests from inside PSECU, as well as community partners. Additionally, each episode will feature money questions submitted by listeners. The hosts’ goal is to tackle difficult money issues with open conversation and real-life feedback, breaking down the notion that talking about money is taboo or even uninteresting, PSECU said.
“We’re looking forward to engaging with the community on our new WalletWorks Podcast,” said co-host Sara Weiser, PSECU’s content and communications strategist. “We’re accepting listener questions on personal financial topics, so don’t hesitate to reach out and submit yours. We might share it on a future episode.”
