Is Cornhole Playing An Asset At Your CU? Here’s Your Chance To Prove It

SAN DIEGO–Are there some employees at your credit union particularly good at playing cornhole? There an opportunity to win part of a $20,000 prize for charity if they are.

Xpress Data, Inc., a provider of credit union notices, statements, and other event-driven member correspondence, said it will host the Credit Union Cornhole Challenge (in which players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end) and will offer more than $20,000 in prize money to be distributed to the winners’ favorite charity.

The Credit Union Cornhole Challenge will be held on Sunday, July 28 at the ocean-side Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and will draw credit union teams from across the nation, with two divisions available: CU Executive and CU Employee, the company said.

As CUToday.info has reported, over the past six years XDI has helped credit unions raise money for charity via its popular Credit Union Chili Challenge.  This year, the company said, it decided to try something new for 2019. The Credit Union Cornhole Challenge will allow even more people to participate, while also allowing for more networking time among players in this very social game, the company said.

‘Anyone Can Toss a Bean Bag’

“Cooking is a big commitment and can make it somewhat difficult for credit unions outside of Southern California to participate,” said XDI CEO Mike Cooper. “Everyone can toss a bean bag and this fun game doesn’t require any additional supplies like a chili cook-off does, so we are hoping for a great turnout and to raise lots of money for charity.”

The entry fee is $50 per two-person team.

XDI said it is encouraging credit unions to arrange their own local Cornhole Challenge and then send their winners to represent their credit union at the Credit Union Cornhole Challenge in San Diego.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for credit unions to take part in our event so we will be glad to assist with these local contests,” said Cooper.
