NOTRE DAME, Ind.–A storied college football rivalry is once again also being played out by two credit unions.
Notre Dame Federal Credit Union here and USC Credit Union, which serves the University of Southern California, said they will compete to raise money for local charities for the fourth annual $10,000 Charity Challenge.
Inspired by the upcoming Nov. 26 game between the Fighting Irish and the Trojans, Notre Dame FCU and USCCU will battle to see which credit union can generate the most credit card applications between Oct. 24, 2016 and Nov. 25, 2016.
Each credit union has wagered $5,000 on the contest, with the winner taking all and donating $10,000 to the charity of their choice.
Notre Dame FCU’s charity of choice is the Kelly Cares Foundation, an organization that focuses on a variety of initiatives, including breast cancer awareness. The foundation is co-founded by University of Notre Dame Head Football Coach Brian Kelly and his wife, Paqui, who is a breast cancer survivor.
If USCCU wins the challenge, it will donate the winnings to USC Good Neighbors, which provides financial support to university-community partnerships between USC faculty and staff and local nonprofit organizations that have a visible, positive impact on the neighborhoods surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences.
“No matter who wins, the outcome will help a great cause and support the communities we care about,” said NDFCU President/CEO Tom Gryp.
