ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif.–In honor of International Credit Union Day this week, Credit Union of Southern California said it will be giving away a total of $20,000 in college funds to 40 random members who open a checking account from Oct. 1 – 31.
Any new member age 13 – 17 who opens a Classic Checking account during October will be automatically entered for a chance to win $500 in college funds. Members 18 – 21 are being entered to win when they open a Classic Checking account or Rewards Checking account.
“This year’s International Credit Union Day theme is ‘Empower Your Financial Future with a Credit Union,’ and we thought we would do so by helping our young members with their educational pursuits,” said CU SoCal President and CEO Dave Gunderson. “We hope these funds will help forty lucky winners achieve their academic and financial goals.”
The $2 billion CU SoCal serves more than 130,000 members.
American 1 Offering Gift
Separately, in Jackson, Mich., American 1 Credit Union said it is celebrating International Credit Union Day as it marks its 74th anniversary.
In honor of the day, American 1 Credit Union is inviting its members and the community to stop by any branch location to pick up a free thank you gift, while supplies last.
“We are proud of our long-standing history as a credit union who has remained true to our roots since 1950,” said President/CEO Martha Fuerstenau. “International Credit Union Day offers the opportunity to bring awareness to not only the services that credit unions provide to local communities, but also our appreciation for those who currently trust us with their financial wellness and those who may choose to bank with us in the future.”
