In This Merger, Should Be Easy to Find Someone to Check the Books

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA) and the Credit Union Internal Auditors Association (CUIAA) have agreed to merge, with ACUIA remaining as the surviving organization.

ACUIA is a national trade association with over 700 members and will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year. CUIAA has been mainly focused on California and Nevada credit unions since 1986.

“Internal audit within credit unions continues to be a growing field and we are pleased to welcome the members of CUIAA to further advance the profession of internal audit and risk management,” said ACUIA Chairman John Gallagher. “We are looking forward to adding CUIAA members to our network and know that they will take advantage of the benefits that ACUIA offers to auditors, compliance and ERM professionals in credit unions across the country.”

Andy Kecskes, CUIAA Chairman added, “This is a win-win for both associations providing expanded services to our membership and adding an expanded member base within California for ACUIA. It will give our members access to more training opportunities in both of our regional areas with the resources available through ACUIA.”

‘Premier’ Association

ACUIA said with the continued focus on internal audit practices, fraud and risk management, it has established itself as the premier audit/risk association for credit unions in this country.

“The ACUIA Annual Conference/One-Day Seminar is the go-to event for credit union internal audit, risk and ERM professionals,” the organization said.

The upcoming conference is scheduled for June 18-21, 2019 and will be held in Denver at the Hyatt Regency.

The combined association will continue to be managed by Bacino & Associates.
