In One Town, 2 Mergers, With One Involving A Noteworthy ‘Signing’

JANESVILLE, Wis.–Two separate credit unions are being merged here, including one in which the act of signing the merger documents literally represents the turning of a page of American and credit union history.

Parker Community Credit Union, founded in 1934 to serve the Parker Pen Co., is merging into Educators Credit Union.  The merger follows an August 2017 vote by members of PCCU.

In 1977 the credit union inked an agreement to expand its FOM beyond Parker Pen employees to include other SEGs, and in 1982 signed off on a deal to further expand to a community charter.

Parker Community Credit Union’s three locations are in Janesville, Milton and Beloit. All of its offices will remain open with the same staff under the change, but will be rebranded as part of Educators CU.

The $124-million Parker Community CU has 16,504 members. The $1.8-billion Educators CU serves 156,000 members.

Also in Janesville, County Credit Union has been absorbed via merger by Blackhawk Community Credit Union. The merger follows a November 2017 vote by the members of CCU in favor of the merger.

“We wanted a merger partner that shares our focus on delivering personalized service and value to our members,” said County Credit Union President, Susan Gehri.

County Credit Union will retain its name, staff, and branch location at 925 59th Street in Kenosha. The credit union primarily serves the officials and employees of Kenosha County and their families.

“We welcome County Credit Union employees and members into the Blackhawk family of credit unions. We’re proud to be a part of the Kenosha community and serve the residents of southeastern Wisconsin,” said Blackhawk’s CEO, Sherri Stumpf.
