In Ohio, A Merger That Reaches Around The Globe

DAYTON, Ohio–Two credit unions here are merging. The $54-million Dayton Firefighters FCU said it will absorb Globe Industries Employees CU.

Globe Industries Employees Credit Union had 427 members and assets of more than $1.6 million.

DFFCU reported it plans to close the two Globe branches this week, one of which is in Dothan, Ala. Members will be extended services through ATMs, shared branches, and mobile banking.

"We felt that this merger was a good benefit for our membership. They will have access to a lot of products and services we could not offer them due to our size,” said Pam Burlile, manager and treasurer of Globe Credit Union, in a released statement.

Burlile, who has been with the credit union for 34 years, is retiring.

"We look forward to this merger and being able to serve the members of Globe Credit Union and offering them a wider range of financial services,” said Dayton Firefighters’ CEO Thomas Newton in a statement.
