In Maine League’s Latest TV Ads, An Explanation of What A CU Is

WESTPORT, Maine–Maine’s credit unions have rolled out the latest TV ads as part of its ongoing statewide awareness campaign.

The new ads include a theme explaining what a credit union is.

The Maine league said its Statewide Awareness Production Team took the feedback of credit union representatives of the Statewide Awareness Committee, which met in October, and results from a recent consumer survey to develop the 2017 awareness campaign. 

The 2017 buy will extend digital advertising and new broadcast sponsorships targeted at young adults and families, the Maine league reported.

"We are excited we can measure and target these new digital efforts. Thanks to the majority of Maine’s Credit Unions we have increased our media spend with over $200,000 through the recent voluntary contribution campaign. The ad spend will total over $1 million in the new year," said Debra Trautman, Vice President of league corporate marketing, in a statement first reported by the Maine league. "In December, we will be targeted on television; digital channels by geo-fencing ads around shopping areas during the holiday season. We have also added theater advertising to our mix; our spots will be rolled out with the new Star Wars movie."

According to the MCUL, beginning in January, the campaign website will feature two new elements – a financial literacy video library with micro-moment videos (to explain credit union benefits, products, and services in more detail) and an online form for consumers to connect directly with credit unions for joining or details about products and services.

Three more spots are in final production with Catama Films.

"Each spot tells a different story for credit unions with a total of over 170 video scenes in all five spots. Each spot has a message that is tailored for different audiences and different channels. Portraits, events, and use of technology are highlighted in visual components" added Trautman in a statement on the league’s website. "The Own It theme ranked strong in our survey to Maine consumers and is continued in this campaign with the ending tagline, 'Belong to a credit union and own it'."
