In Last Year of Sponsorship, CUs Unveil Christmas Parade Floats

ADELAIDE, Australia–In what will be their last year of sponsorship of a traditional Christmas parade here, several credit unions have unveiled their floats.

The two credit union-sponsored floats are the “Credit Union Pageant Express” and the “Gingerbread House,” and will join 62 other floats as part of the parade that travels a three kilometer route through Adelaide’s central business district.

The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway, was on hand for the unveiling of the floats.

The theme for the 86th Christmas Pageant in Adelaide is the “Shining a Light on Kindness.”

‘Be Kind’

“It is important that we all remember to be kind to one another. This year the Pageant is going to remind the community to focus on the common thread of kindness,” said parade organizers. “Random acts of Pageant kindness are on the agenda.”

Robert Keogh, chair of the Credit Union Pageant Co., told AdelaideNow.com credit unions are looking forward to saying “thanks for the memories” to the people of South Australia.

The People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union have been sponsors since 1996.

More than 300,000 people are expected to line the Pageant route when the parade begins at 9.30 a.m. on November 10.
