In Idaho, Hackers Have Managed To Empty At Least 1 ATM Of Cash

BURLEY, Idaho—Hackers have hit ATMs here and emptied the machines of cash.

According to police, the hackers cleaned out an ATM at D.L. Evans Bank and later “tampered” with an ATM at Mountain America Credit Union in Twin Falls, Idaho. No money was taken from that machine, however, police told the Twin Falls News.

The Cassia County Sheriff’s Office said they suspect the same criminals are behind both attacks on the ATMs.

In the case of the bank ATM attack, police told the Twin Falls News, “After they overrode the system the ATM gave them money.”

No account information was compromised, according to police. Police did not release any details on how the hackers may have gained access to the machines.
