In DC This Week, CU Attention Will be on Treasury Secretary’s Testimony

WASHINGTON–While the House and the Senate are both in session this week, there is little on the agenda that is likely to affect credit unions.

Greg Mesack

There is one hearing CU Hill advocates will be giving attention. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will testify before the House Financial Services Committee during a hearing titled, “The Annual Report of the Financial Stability Oversight Council,” which is otherwise known as FSOC and of which NCUA is a member.

“We’re looking forward to hearing some of the questions” committee members may ask, said Greg Mesack of America’s Credit Unions.

One of the questions Mesack said the trade group is particularly interested in is the CDFI fund and its new application.

“We have some follow up questions and concerns there,” Mesack added.

The Senate’s time this week is expected to be consumed by the border bill being negotiated between Congress and the administration.
