HELENA, Mont.–Helena Community Credit Union has changed its name. The $206-million CU is now Intrepid Credit Union, and said it made the name change in part because it is expanding beyond the Helena market into Bozeman, Mont., in February of 2019.
“The name Intrepid Credit Union captures the spirit of Montana and of the people who live here – today and in the future,” said CEO Greg Strizich in a letter to members. “Intrepid means to be fearless, adventurous, unafraid, undaunted, bold, daring, and spirited. That’s who we are. That’s who we serve. Our whole reason for being is about helping people get more out of life.”
With the new name has also come a new logo and an extensive remodel of its branch in Prospect, Mont.
With the name change the credit union has also announced a membership drive. For every new member who joins now until the end of March, the credit union will donate $25 to a local non-profit.
Intrepid Credit Union, founded in 1936 as Helena U.S. Employees FCU, has approximately 16,500 members.
