HENDERSON, Nev.–In the six weeks since it was announced, more than $300,000 has been raised for the Polish American Credit Union Support Fund, which is providing support to Poland’s credit unions as they give assistance to the tide of Ukrainian refugees who have entered the country.
The goal for the fund is $500,000, putting it 60% of the way toward its goal.
The fund was created in part by Mitchell Stankovic & Associates, which has also hosted several webinars offering updates from Poland on the situation the credit unions face in the country as the attack by Russia continues.
Poland’s credit unions have been assisting as more than three-million people have crossed the border seeking refuge. Many refugees who escaped the war are now able to deposit their wages into a credit union in Poland to build a better life, while they also send money back to their families, Mitchell Stankovic reported. Several credit unions have already made large donations, such as Kinecta FCU, which donated $50,000, and Santa Cruz CU and American Eagle FCU, which each donated $10,000.
