Illinois, Georgia CUs Named Maxwell, Herring, Desjardins Award Winners

NAPERVILLE, Ill.–Two more state CU associations have named numerous award winners.

The CUs in Illinois and Georgia were honored as part of the annual Desjardins awards for financial literacy, Dora Maxwell awards for social responsibility in local communities, and Louise Herring awards for demonstrating the people helping people philosophy.

“Congratulations to these deserving credit unions for being recognized by CUNA with these awards,” said Tom Kane, ICUL president/CEO. “I’m always impressed with the variety and quality of the initiatives submitted by Illinois credit unions and this year was no exception.” 

The Illinois winners include:

Dora Maxwell Award:

  • 1st place: Land of Lincoln Credit Union - 2022 Community Investment Commitment, in the $250-million-$1 billion category
  • 2nd place: Revity Credit Union - Don’t Stop Donatin’ Jeans Program, in the $250 million-$1-billion category
  • 3rd place: 1st MidAmerica Credit Union - CU in the Community Videos Highlight Nonprofits - $250 million-$1-billion category
  • 1st place: Scott Credit Union - Surprise Squad, more than $1 billion in assets
  • 2nd place: Great Lakes Credit Union - GLCU Scholarship Program – more than $1 billion in assets

Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Award

  • 1st place: Revity Credit Union - Volunteer Income Tax Program - $250 million-$1 billion in assets category
  • 2nd place: Earthmover Credit Union - Parties N Rec -$250 million-$1 billion in assets category
  • 1st place: Great Lakes Credit Union - Fee Eliminations/Reductions – More than $1 billion in assets

Desjardins Adult and Youth Financial Education Award

  • 1st place: Revity Credit Union - (Financial FUNdamentals) Youth Category - $250 million-$1 billion in assets category
  • 2nd place: 1st MidAmerica Credit Union - (Reality Fairs Go Digital) - Youth Category - $250 million-$1 billion in assets category
  • 3rd place: Earthmover Credit Union - (Youth Saver Challenge) - $250 million-$1 billion in assets category
  • 1st place: Great Lakes Credit Union - (Mad City Money) Youth category – More than $1 billion
  • 1st place: Scott Credit Union - (Financial Family Feud) - Adult category – More than $1 billion
  • 2nd place: Great Lakes Credit Union - (Great to Know Video Series) - Adult category – More than $1 billion

Georgia Winners Names

Meanwhile, in Georgia, theLeague of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) named its winners in Georgia.

In Georgia, the Desjardins Financial Education winners included: 

  • Delta Community Credit Union won first place for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.
  • Georgia United Credit Union won second place for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.
  • Delta Community Credit Union won first place for the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets. 

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award Winners            

  • Associated Credit Union won first place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.
  • Robins Financial Credit Union won second place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.

Louise Herring Award Winners            

  • Associated Credit Union won 1st place for the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.
