Illinois CUL CEO Hession Out, Kane Named as Interim CEO

NAPERVILLE, Ill.—After just a year in the job, Tom Hession is out as president/CEO of the Illinois CU League.

Tom Kane

Tom Kane, EVP/COO with League Services Corp., has been named as the interim CEO.  The league did not cite a reason for Hession’s departure in a statement announcing the change, saying only that it “wished him well.” Hession had previously been president/CEO of Washington-based Callahan & Associates, before moving to the Illinois league on May 1 of 2014. He succeeded long-time ICUL President/CEO Dan Plauda in the job.

Kane has overseen LSC, a $60-million subsidiary of the league, for the past 12 years. He has also held positions with Aon Corporation, Quaker Oats and the Central Intelligence Agency.

“Our boards of directors will be meeting to discuss our plan to search for a permanent successor,” said Peter Paulson, ICUL chairman, in a statement. “We have every confidence in Tom’s abilities to continue delivering the crucial products and services that help our member credit unions thrive in Illinois and across the country.”
