ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.–Team Mo Proactive has been selected as the winner of KnockOut 2015, a 24-hour competitive payments summit hosted by PSCU last month.
The winning idea from the five-person team, which was made up of members from FLAG Credit Union and PSCU employees, could be brought to market to benefit PSCU credit unions and their members as soon as next year.
PSCU reported that this year’s winning idea – which was selected following 24 hours of ideation and three rounds of voting – is a pop-up feature that eliminates collection calls in early delinquency stages, offers multiple payment options and enhances the overall member experience. Members of the Mo Proactive team included Carrie Edgerson and Beth Wheeler from FLAG Credit Union in Tallahassee, Fla., and Elizabeth Rowe, Heidi Thomas and Ed Warren from PSCU in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“The single biggest reason our idea resonated with the judges and voters was that it speaks to an unspoken need in the collections arena,” said Wheeler, Member Solutions Representative at FLAG Credit Union. “There is a need for a new strategy to bridge the gap to the millennial generation in particular, and we delivered something people didn’t even know they were missing until we pointed it out!”
Twenty-four teams came together during KnockOut with a goal of collaborating to discover new solutions to enhance the credit union member experience. Ideas were required to fall into three categories: Member Experience, Credit Union Experience, and Growth. KnockOut was held in every PSCU office – St. Petersburg Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; and Allen Park, Michigan – and at a fourth location hosted by HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, Hawaii.
CUToday.info was on hand at the St. Petersburg location at the launch of the event.
“Our hats are off to all of the teams that competed at KnockOut 2015,” said Chuck Fagan, president and CEO of PSCU. “We believe Team Mo Proactive’s winning idea has the potential to enable credit union growth and provide an unparalleled member experience, which is what PSCU is all about. We look forward to helping bring their idea to market.”
Second place went to Team Lava Rush from HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union in Honolulu for an app that allows crowdfunding for life events. Third place went to Team Hawaiian Punch from Hawaii State Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, Hawaii, and PSCU for an app that allows members to obtain real-time lending.
