Idaho League’s Thomson Announces Retirement Plans

Kathy Thomson

BOISE, Idaho–The Idaho Credit Union League (ICUL) has announced that President/CEO Kathy Thomson will retire in January 2017.

Thomson joined the ICUL staff in 1973, and was named to the president/CEO position in early 2014.

“We’ve been fortunate to have Kathy as a long-time, dedicated employee serving our Idaho credit unions for over 43 years,” said Kent Oram, chair of the ICUL’s board of directors. “She brought professionalism and passion to every role she filled at the league. We celebrate her accomplishments and wish her the best upon her retirement.”

During Thomson’s four-plus-decade career with the Idaho Credit Union League, Gem State credit unions expanded their reach with the number of credit union members served growing from 110,000 to 738,027. Today, Idaho credit unions serve nearly 50% of those who make Idaho their home. Idaho credit union members’ financial strength has also grown markedly since Thomson joined the ICUL staff. In 1975, Idaho credit unions protected $122 million in assets while today they are the trusted stewards of $7.2 billion of those members’ financial assets, the league noted.

“I am so proud of the ways credit unions change members’ lives,” said Thomson. “I can personally attest to the impact credit unions have on the employees who serve this industry as well. It’s been a pleasure to lead the league in supporting credit unions, so they can keep all of their focus on serving their teams and their members.”
