WASHINGTON–The impending arrival of Hurricane Florence has led NAFCU to cancel its Congressional Caucus, scheduled to begin today.
The meeting was expected to draw several-hundred credit union representatives to both hear remarks from members of Congress and the administration, and to also make Hill visits.
The storm is expected to strike the coast of the Carolinas and the southern portion of Virginia, but could move further north and significantly impact the Washington, D.C. area as it moves inland. More than one-million people in the Carolinas have already been ordered to evacuate.
“While we regret any inconvenience this may cause, we made this decision as Washington, D.C. declared a state of emergency due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence,” NAFCU said in a statement.
NAFCU said it will apply attendees’ registration fees toward the 2019 Caucus.
