Hudson Valley FCU Looking To Change Charters To Grow

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is looking to switch to a state charter in order to expand its field of membership, and has put the matter before its members for a vote.

The $5-billion Hudson Valley FCU, chartered in 1963 to serve IBM-Poughkeepsie employees, currently serves Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Putnam counties in New York. The move to a state charter would allow it to expand to Westchester, Rockland, Columbia, Greene, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga counties.

Members have until May 16 to cast their votes, with a special member meeting to discuss the proposal set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Ramada Inn in Fishkill, N.Y.
