How Much Loot Can Be Grabbed In Warehouse Store In 1 Minute? PSCU Has Answer

CHICAGO–Eight teams of credit union members who were given 60 seconds to grab as much stuff as they could in a merchandise warehouse averaged about $5,000 in items loaded into their carts, according to PSCU, which sponsored the promotion.

The “Credit Union Magic Minute” awarded eight teams an all-expenses paid trip here to take part in the merchandise grab. According to PSCU, teams loaded their carts with lots of electronics, including MacBook Airs, TVs, game systems, Go-Pros and iPad Minis, along with other items.

For the first time ever, a team from the credit union who secured the most participants ran the dash to benefit a local non profit organization.

“PSCU’s Total Member Loyalty rewards program is built with credit unions and their members in mind,” said Annie Cox, director of credit union growth solutions for PSCU. “Credit Union Magic Minute is one way we use our rewards program to engage members and build relationships through a unique, exciting, interactive event.”

A representative from each respective credit union made the trip to Chicago with their winning team. Magic Minute was open to all PSCU member-owner credit unions that were enrolled in the company¹s CURewards loyalty programs. Credit unions incurred no cost to enroll. To enter the sweepstakes, members of enrolled credit unions registered their contact information on PSCU’s CURewards website and used their credit or debit cards in at least three weekly purchases between August and October.

PSCU said that on the night before the big haul the Magic Minute winners were treated to an exclusive cocktail and dinner reception where they fueled up for the 60-second dash. At the big event the next day, each sweepstakes winner was awarded the opportunity to load an oversized shopping cart with as much merchandise as the two-person teams could grab from the shelves of a warehouse stocked with flat screen TVs, designer handbags, computers, home appliances and thousands of other high-end goodies. The winners also participated in sightseeing around the Windy City.

Winners for the Credit Union Magic Minute were selected in random drawings and consisted of credit union members from BCU (Vernon Hills, Ill); Citadel Federal Credit Union (Exton, Penn.); Florida Credit Union (Gainesville, Fla.); Provident Credit Union (Redwood City, Calif.); Truity Federal Credit Union (Bartlesville, Okla.); First Financial Federal Credit Union (Wall, N.J.); and MECU (Baltimore).

PSCU also awarded two employees from the credit union with the highest participation in the sweepstakes with a position at the Magic Minute starting line. Dashers from American Airlines Credit Union in Fort Worth, Texas, selected SafeHaven of Tarrant County, Texas, as the recipient of their shopping haul. The organization aims to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change, and successfully protected 674 women and 862 children in its emergency shelter, and housed 264 women and children in its transitional living program in 2014 alone.
