OVERLAND PARK, Kan.–Brandon Michaels has announced he is stepping down as CEO of Mazuma Credit Union here in order to take over at JSC Credit Union in Houston.
In a statement, Mazuma said Michaels’ last day will be Aug. 23.
Michaels is well known to many in credit unions for his work at Mazuma, which has championed a quirkiness and humor in its branding. He joined the $664-million Mazuma in 2009 as VP-finance and CFO, and was named CEO in early 2012.
In a statement on LinkedIn Michaels announced he is making the move to JSC Credit Union, which serves the Johnson Space Center.
The $2.1-billion JSC Credit Union has approximately 128,000 members.
“It has been a real pleasure! It’s been emotional announcing to my team that I am spreading my wings and taking over the president/CEO role at JSC Credit Union in Houston,” said Michaels on LinkedIn. “What we have done at Mazuma is incredible and I couldn’t have done it without a supportive board and an awesome team.”
Mazuma Credit Union announced that Deonne Christensen, who joined Mazuma as its COO in 2013, has been named interim CEO. The credit union announced it has started a search for a new president/CEO.
