House, Senate In Session (But Not For Long); Here’s Agenda

WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are in session this week, but not for very long. Congress will adjourn on mid-day Wednesday so many members can attend events commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Among the legislation that will be considered is HR 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, as well as HR 2157, the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act, which would extend funding for the National Flood Insurance Program through Sept. 30.

The Senate is considering S. 1332, which would set the congressional budget for the U.S. for fiscal year 2020, and set forth budgetary levels for fiscal years 2021-29, while also considering a number of nominations.

Also on Agenda

  • Today, the Senate Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on “Confronting Threats from China: Assessing Controls on Technology and Investment, and Measures to Combat Opioid Trafficking.
  • The House Financial Services Committee today will hold a hearing on “Emerging Threats to Stability: Considering the Systemic Risk of Leveraged Lending.”
  • In addition, the House Armed Services Committee will hold a markup on HR 2500, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2020. Credit unions are warily watching the legislation to ensure language is not included that might change how they serve members on overseas military bases.
