WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are back in session this week, with a number of hearings scheduled of interest to credit unions.
In addition, as CUToday.info reported earlier, the Financial Accounting Standards Board will host a meeting on Wednesday at which it will discuss feedback from a January roundtable related to its current expected credit loss (CECL) standard.
The hearing schedule in Washington includes:
Today
- The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing on The Fair Housing Act: Reviewing Efforts to Eliminate Discrimination and Promote Opportunity in Housing at which it will also discuss draft legislation related to these issues. This hearing is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
- The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance will hold a hearing on The Affordable Housing Crisis in Rural America: Assessing the Federal Response at 2 p.m. ET.
- The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs will hold a holding a hearing on investing and the role of asset managers, proxy advisors and other intermediaries.
- The Senate Committee on the Judiciary will hold a hearing titled “Arbitration in America.”
Wednesday
- The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee will hold a hearing on the SBA's access to capital programs.
- The Senate Commerce Committee will markup a number of bills, including one related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) aimed at targeting illegal robocalls.
- A House Financial Services subcommittee will hold a hearing “Putting Investors First: Reviewing Proposals to Hold Executives Accountable.”
- Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee will hold hearing on S. 151, the TRACED Act.
