House Goes Home, But Senate in Session This Week as Trade Group Monitors Bills for Any Anti-CU Provisions

Jason Stverak

WASHINGTON–The House of Representatives is out of session this week, but the Senate is still meeting in Washington, where it is primarily focused on spending packages.

CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer for federal affairs, Jason Stverak, said the trade group continues to do what it has been doing the last few months, which is monitoring any legislation or spending packages to ensure it doesn’t contain language or provisions that are opposed by credit unions.

Looking toward the new year—the House returns on Jan. 8, Stverak said, “It will obviously be an incredibly busy year across this country as we work with individual credit unions and our leagues to help advance policy. That partnership is unparalleled in its ability to help stop negative legislation.”
