Hotel, Grocer, Latest To Confirm Breach

HONG KONG—At the same time credit unions are in Washington saying that data breaches are a top priority issue with Congress, two more companies have confirmed credit card/debit card breaches.

The luxury hotel chain Mandarin Oriental Hotels and the organic and health food chain Natural Grocers have confirmed that their POS systems have been breached. Mandarin has issued a statement confirming that an “isolated number of hotels” in the U.S. and Europe have seen credit card systems being accessed “without authorization.” The company has more than two-dozen properties and had declined to say how many are involved.

Colorado-based Natural Grocers, which operates 93 sores in 15 states, has also confirmed a breach, saying it has heard of no reports of data being misused and that it has hired a third party to investigate. Krebs on Security reported that Natural Grocers data is available for sale on cybercrime sites.
