Horizon FCU Offering Paid Maternity, Paternity Leave

WILLIAMSPORT, Penn.–Horizon Federal Credit Union said it is now offering paid maternity and paternity leave to its employees. Effective Jan. 1, all employees with a minimum of six months’ tenure are eligible for HFCU’s New Child Leave.

Paid leave includes one week for adoptive and foster parents, one-week paternity, and six weeks maternity. Employees are free to utilize their accumulated paid time off to take additional time at home., the credit union said.

New Child Leave is one of three new benefits Horizon said it has begun offering employees this year. The credit union has also instituted a Tuition Reimbursement Program, and converted its vacation and sick days into combined Paid Time Off (PTO). The latter offers employees more flexibility to utilize their personal time away from the office.

“We feel this is an important benefit in order to attract and retain the best professionals in the area,” said Horizon Chief Branding Officer Michael Patterson. “We believe people come first—provide a great experience for your employees, and they will provide a great experience for our members.”

Horizon had previously instituted a $15 minimum hourly salary for all employees in spring 2019. Other employee benefits include medical, dental, and vision for full-time employees, and 401(k) match for all.

The $77-million Horizon FCU has approximately 11,100 members.
