WASHINGTON—President Trump has renominated former NCUA board member Rodney Hood to fill the board seat currently held by Board Member Rick Metsger.
As CUToday.info reported, Hood was nominated in the last Congress, but Trump had to refile the nomination as the Senate failed to act on it before the end of the 115th Congress.
Hood previously served as vice chair of the NCUA board under President George W. Bush
“CUNA and the leagues congratulate Rodney Hood on his re-nomination by President Trump to the NCUA Board,” said CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan. “We look forward to working with Mr. Hood once again. He was approachable to stakeholders and demonstrated a thorough understanding of credit unions and the importance of commonsense regulation in his previous terms on the board.”
As CUToday.info reported. the President also has the opportunity to nominate a Democrat to fill the seat currently held by Rick Metsger, whose term is expired, and to nominate a third board member in August, when current Chairman J. Mark McWatters’ term expires. The three-person board is currently operating with one seat vacant.

Hood was appointed vice chairman of NCUA in 2005 by Bush, and served on the board from October 2005 to August 2010. His nomination is for a term ending in August 2023, and would still leave one vacant seat on the board, as former board Chair Debbie Matz’s seat has not been filled.
Hood currently serves as corporate responsibility manager at JPMorgan Chase, where he manages national partnerships with organizations that foster sustainable homeownership; provide financial capability and economic inclusion; and provide access to capital in underserved communities — including low-to-moderate income, minority and disabled.
