Here’s One Prediction for What Will be on NCUA Board Agenda Next Week

WASHIINGTON–With NCUA Chairman Todd Harper was sworn in for his new six-year term yesterday, credit unions are now focused on what the agency might have on its agenda when it meets next Thursday, July 21.

Luke Martone

“We don’t know for sure what will be on the agenda, but there are a couple of items we are anticipating,” said Luke Martone, CUNA’s senior director of advocacy and counsel.

Among those items, said Martone, is the mid-year review of the NCUA budget, which the board commonly reviews at its July meeting.

Other items that may be on the agenda, he said, include:

  • A proposal on computer security incident (breaches) reporting. Martone noted Harper had indicated at the board’s June meeting that he expected the item to appear in July.
  • A proposal addressing loan participations and eligible obligations.
  • A final rule on succession planning. As CUToday.info reported here, in January the board put the succession planning proposal out for comment. The issue has bubbled to the top of concerns after numerous smaller credit unions have cited the lack of a new leader as the reason for merging.
