WASHINGTON–With both credit union trade groups primarily focused on progress of the SAFE Act in the House and a conference committee that’s hammering out whether banks will be permitted to serve military bases, several hearings on Capitol Hill will also get attention this week.
Among those hearings:
- The full House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing today on “Oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission: Wall Street’s Cop on the Beat.”
- Also today, the Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion will hold a hearing titled, “Examining the Racial and Gender Wealth Gap in America.”
- On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions will hold a hearing on “Promoting Financial Stability: Assessing Threats to the U.S. Financial System.”
- Also on Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance will hold a hearing titled, “Protecting Seniors: A Review of the FHA’s Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Program
- On Friday, the full Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled, “Examining Legislation to Protect Consumers and Small Business Owners from Abusive Debt Collection Practices.”
