WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are back in session this week and will be holding a number of hearings of interest to credit unions.
Among the hearings the credit union trade groups said they are watching:

- House Financial Services Committee hearing on Housing in America: Assessing the Infrastructure Needs of America’s Housing Stock
- House Financial Services Committee hearing on Ending Debt Traps in the Payday and Small Dollar Credit Industry
- House Committee on Energy & Commerce on Hearing on "Legislating to Stop the Onslaught of Annoying Robocalls”
- Senate Banking Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs on “Guidance, Supervisory Expectations, and the Rule of Law: How do the Banking Agencies Regulate and Supervise Institutions?” As CUToday.info reported earlier, this hearing does not include any of the financial regulators
- Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Subcommittee on Security hearing on “Strengthening the Cybersecurity of the Internet of Things”
Wednesday
- House Financial Services Committee hearing on Examining Discrimination in the Automobile Loan and Insurance Industries
- House Financial Services Committee hearing on Good for the Bottom Line: A Review of the Business Case for Diversity and Inclusion
- Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing to examine consumer perspectives, focusing on policy principles for a federal data privacy network
The Fed’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is also scheduled to begin its two-day meeting today, but no action on rates is expected.
