WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are in session this week. The House no legislative business on the agenda and will instead be in a committee work week, while the Senate will consider several executive branch nominations, including one involving a former CUNA exec.
Among the hearings credit unions will be watching this week, according to Ryan Donovan, CUNA’s chief advocacy officer:
Today
- Senate Banking Committee hearings on pending nominations at the Department of Commerce and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. That will include a hearing on Damon Smith, the nominee to be general counsel at HUD. Smith was previously senior director of advocacy and counsel with CUNA.
- Senate Appropriations Committee hearing to review budget request of the USPS Office of Inspector General and USPS service issues
Wednesday
- Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on FY 2022 budget request for USAID
- House Financial Services Committee Semi-Annual Report on the State of the Economy from Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell
- House Ways and Means Committee hearing: “Expanding Housing Access to All Americans”
Thursday
- Senate Banking Committee Hearing: Semi-Annual Report on the State of the Economy from Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell
