WASHINGTON–Both sides of Congress will be in session this week, with credit unions and others watching progress on a spending and aid package, as well as a number of hearings in the House.
The Senate had been scheduled to be adjourned this seek, but Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has kept senators in Washington as efforts continue to find agreement on a number of spending and aid packages, including to Israel and Ukraine, as well as some sort of border deal.
Jason Stverak of America’s Credit Unions said the trade group will be paying attention to a number of hearings in the House this week, including:
Wednesday
- House Financial Services Committee hearing: “Oversight of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence
Thursday
- House Financial Services Committee hearing: “Lender of Last Resort: issues with the Fed Discount Window and Emergency Lending”
- House Financial Services Committee hearing: “Crypto Crime in Context Part II: Examining Approaches to Combat Illicit Activity”
- House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing: “Sink or Swim? A Deep Dive into the Current State of VA’s Home Loan Program in a Competitive Environment”
- House Committee on Education and the Workforce hearing: “Protecting American Savers and Retirees from DOL’s Regulatory Overreach”
