DUBLIN, Ohio—Thanks to a unique loan program, the Healthcare Credit Union System here has raised $12,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Healthcare Credit Union System is the registered trade name used by Ohio HealthCare FCU, a collaborative model that also includes Akron, Ohio-based MedPro FCU.
Through its “We Care Loan initiative” introduced last year, every loan opened at the credit union initiated a corporate donation to a local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. The receiving hospital was determined by the loan recipient’s home address.
“We have a motto at our credit union. It’s ‘We Care Because You Care’,” said Bill Butler, president of HCUS and Ohio HealthCare FCU. “As a credit union that serves the healthcare industry, our existence is based on caring. We care for our members. Our members care for the sick and injured. Our We Care Loan initiative allows us to all care for our community.”
The We Care Loan was well received by the credit union’s members and the community. As a result, the initiative will run through 2017, the CU stated. HCUS serves more than 12,000 healthcare professionals and their families, primarily in Ohio.
