Health & Wellness Initiative Among 24 Montana CUs Is Recognized With Award

MISSOULA, Mont.–A multi-employer arrangement that offers health and wellness insurance among a group of Montana credit unions has been recognized with an award.

The Montana Credit Union League Group Benefit Trust was awarded the “Rock Stars of Health Bronze Award.”

The plan provides health, dental, vision, and group and voluntary life coverage to all Montana credit unions, in addition to a wellness program called “Healthy You!”

Twenty-four Montana credit unions, their employees, and dependents are part of the Group Benefit Trust.

At each credit union, the Healthy You! Program is championed by a volunteer, who keeps staff in the loop about their upcoming biometric health screenings and monthly wellness tips, according to the Montana Credit Union Network. The health screenings help members by identifying any health risk factors they might have, and Healthy You! offers wellness coaching to help members take control of those risk factors, the MCUN said.

The Montana CUN reported that Healthy You! has resulted in a 70-80% participation in biometric screenings for each credit union. This is an unusually high participation in an employee wellness program, and it is the result of a strategic move from the Group Benefit Trust—credit unions are rewarded with a 3% discount on premiums when they reach a minimum of 70% attendance in employee health screenings.

“First and foremost, we’re thrilled that Healthy You! is helping our credit union staff members and their families to become more engaged with their health. It’s a wonderful, and very welcome, bonus that our program has been recognized by the Rock Stars of Health Summit with this award!” said Tracie Kenyon, chair of the Montana Credit Union League Group Benefit Trust.
