HILO, Hawaii–Hawaii First Credit Union has established a fund here to help people recover and rebuild from the ongoing lava flows on the Big Island.
The Pathways to Rebuilding Lives Project! Is being overseen by the credit union’s Hawaii First Community Ventures.
Hawaii First Federal Credit Union said it implemented the project in conjunction with its newly enhanced financial coaching platform to assist residents in creating step by step action plans to recover and rebuild from this natural disaster.
Funds will be granted to individuals in amounts up to $2,000 upon each person completing their short- term action steps. Funds will be used towards essential living expenses as determined in their action plan, the credit union said.
Corporate America Credit Union in Irondale, Ala., and its president/CEO, Pete Pritts, are among the first to step up and show support for the effort.
