CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–—Harvard University Employees Credit Union has named a new president and CEO. The credit union has selected Craig Leonard to lead the organization, effective July 18.
Leonard will succeed Gene Foley, who is retiring after 25 years in the top spot with the CU.
Leonard previously served as EVP/CFO with HUECU, and has more than 30 years of experience in financial services and a “thorough understanding of the Harvard community,” which made him the ideal candidate, HUECU said. During Leonard’s tenure HUECU has experienced phenomenal growth and been among the best performing credit unions nationally, the CU added.
Leonard is a graduate of Bentley University and was one of the youngest bank treasurers in the State of Massachusetts, was vice president and controller for the largest community chartered credit union in New England, and helped run the third largest credit union in the state of Rhode Island before joining the HUECU in 2010, HUECU said.
"I am excited and honored to be leading such an exceptional organization,” Leonard said. “We have a dynamic and diverse team that's focused on the needs of our members and always working to improve itself. I look forward to partnering with the credit union's board and team members as we continue to enhance HUECU's culture and build upon our success."
